Benefit Event for Kofi GoodwinIn early May, JBB’s keyboardist Matthew Goodwin and his wife Vanessa received devastating news- Their 1 year old son Kofi was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer called retinoblastoma. As JBB headed to Europe Matt stayed with Vanessa and Kofi who was beginning treatment at the Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia. During the treatment doctors were forced to remove Kofi’s left eye, which had been filled with cancerous tumors. Now 4 months after the life saving surgery Kofi is strong and well.
Kofi will continue to need medical support throughout his childhood, and to ease the financial burden the Hope Alive Foundation is spearheading a benefit event for Kofi this Saturday August 7th in Farmington NY.
